IEC Free State says all the objections have been dealt with.

The IEC has announced that there will be no rerun of Metsimaholo’s Ward one by-elections held last week.

There were objections from political parties following allegations that incorrect ballot papers were used and some voters voted twice.

The by-election in the Sasolburg-based municipality left it with another hung council.

IEC Free State manager Itumeleng Liba says all the objections have been dealt with.

Liba says: “We received about two [objections] after the results were announced. There will be no rerun with the information that we received in Ward one or anywhere else in the municipality.”
