No end in sight to Mpumalanga taxi strike

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Taxi operations are still disrupted between White River and Hazyview in Mpumalanga as members of the White Hazy Taxi Association continue their strike.

Scores of minibus-taxis were used to blockade the R40 road in Hazyview on Monday.

The association has appealed to the Mpumalanga provincial government to provide assistance in resolving differences encountered by the different taxi associations operating between Hazyview and Mbombela.

Spokesperson Agnes Metane says they want to be allowed to load people from Hazyview to Mbombela and other long distance routes.

“The government officials didn’t help us. We tried to negotiate to discuss the matter. For now the minibus-taxis are parked at different taxi ranks around the Hazyview area.”
