Organisers of the Cape Cycle Tour say there are no clear favourites for the 2019 edition of the prestigious event. Thousands of cycling enthusiasts take to the streets for Sunday’s race amid fears of strong winds in the Mother City.
Defending champion, Nolan Hoffman, will be looking to keep the silverware in his cabinet while numerous other contenders for the title will try to make their intentions clear in an effort to climb to the top spot.
Race Director, David Bellairs says the 2019 Cape Town Cycle Tour is going to be a very exciting tour. Bellairs says for the ladies race his money is on Elinor Barker.
“In the ladies race which will start in Fish Hoek the top teams from around the country will be here, my money will be on Elinor Barker coming from the United Kingdom – she’s an Olympic gold medalist; Nolan Hoffman born and raised in Franschoek – he knows the Cape conditions well, he’s raced in the wind and we are expecting the wind…”
