Cricket in the Nelson Mandela Bay townships has received a massive boost after an automation company signed a multi-year agreement with the New Brighton based United Cricket Club.

The club in conjunction with its sponsors Jendamark have hired four coaches that will run cricket hubs in all the townships.

Cricket South Africa has introduced hubs countrywide to grow and develop cricket in the townships.

United’s chairperson, Gerald Majola says the program employed coaches to assist children.

“The Cricket South Africa program allows employing four coaches. We felt the number of kids that need to be attended was too much; hence we approached Jendamark to expand their sponsorship to sponsor the hub. Now we employed four coaches at the same rate that is paid to the coaches that they employ”.
