Nine suspects, including employees of the Oudtshoorn Traffic Department in the Western Cape, have been arrested for allegedly issuing fraudulent driver’s licences. The arrests happened during Operation Vula.
Police spokesperson, Malcolm Pojie, says they’ve also arrested the owner and employees of a driving school in the area.
He says the suspects are being investigated for being part of an allegedly organised syndicate which issues learner’s and driver’s licences for payment.
Vehicles, computers and an undisclosed amount of cash were seized during the arrests. The suspects, aged between 34 and 61, will appear in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
