A non-governmental organisation, Sonke Gender Justice has called for former Deputy Minister of Higher Education Mduduzi Manana to be sacked from parliament.

The organisation which promotes gender equity, wants the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests to recommend that Manana be dismissed as a Member of Parliament.

This comes after he was sentenced to 12 months in prison or pay R100 000 fine and 500 hours of community service.

The organisation’s Bafana Khumalo says government must show its commitment to end violence against women.
