South African-based NGO Project Rage, which provides shelter for victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), is hosting the Royal International Pageant as a fundraiser and awareness campaign.

Project Rage, which uses the slogan ‘No Bloods On My Hands’, is a safe haven for people that have suffered GBV.

Is SA winning the fight against GBV?

One of the contestants, who is also a counselor with Project Rage, Sandra Da Mata says, ” We aim to empower women of all ages with a platform to bring sustainable change which focuses primarily on social upliftment, being women empowerment and more specifically women empowerment that focuses on Gender-Based Violence through Project Rage the official non-profit organisation for Mrs / Ms Royal International Pageant.”

Da Mata adds that all services both legal and counselling are done on a voluntary basis and the fund raising initiative is purely for the upkeep of the shelters and providing the essentials needed by the victims.

She says, “These safe homes are in desperate need of funds to run the home,  rental  water and electricity as well as groceries and basic hygiene supplies.”

The event is scheduled for 2 July in Gauteng.
