One of the leaders of the controversial Mancoba Seven Angels Ministry is expected to appear in the Ngcobo Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.

Thirty-year-old Banele Mancoba is facing charges of rape, sexual exploitation and sexual grooming.

The crimes were allegedly committed inside the church.

Mancoba was arrested over the weekend alongside two others inside premises of the Seven Angels Ministries church.

Their arrest follows an ongoing investigation into the murder of five police officers and a soldier in Ngcobo more than a week ago. Seven men were shot and killed inside the church following a gun battle after police stormed the church acting on a tip off.

Young mothers and their children were rescued from the church and taken to a place of safety.

Mancoba is the only one so far who facing allegations of rape, sexual exploitation and sexual grooming.

On Monday, Mancoba and one of the suspects made a brief appearance at the same court, this time, for conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravating circumstances.  The crime is alleged to have been committed in December last year.
