NFVF outlines criteria for stimulus programme funding

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has outlined the criteria for those intending to apply for funding by the Department of Arts and Culture’s programme that seeks to assist the sector which has been negatively hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

The NFVF – through the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme – has been tasked to administer the process of sector recovery and employment creation for the audio-visual industry. It aims to assist practitioners, companies and projects that incurred losses during the lockdown period.

“We’ve been given an amount of R140 million. The two objectives given to us were to create and retain employment. So we broke it down into four streams. In instances where you have a production you were working on or intending to work on, the stimulus fund enables you to pay those salaries but we are not in a situation to be finding equipment as it is about stimulating employment. Everybody is eligible, so you could be sitting on a script with an intention on how you are going to make it happen, so everybody within production will be catered for, there are no limitations to who can apply,” says Khosi Magubane, NFVF Communications Manager.
