NFP to fire councillors who loot funds meant for service delivery

National Freedom Party (NFP) Deputy President Jeremiah Mavundla says the party will fire all councillors who loot funds meant for service delivery. He was delivering the party’s election manifesto at KwaNongoma in northern KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the November first local government elections.

Mavundla says councillors must work to create job opportunities for people in the area.

“Our districts and our councillors should create job opportunities they should develop the local economy. If I was given the opportunity I would fire all councillors who loot money. Any councillors who take R5 million and go spend it in Durban and not in their own municipality.”

Mavundla says they will discuss scrapping the deputy mayor office to re-direct the funds to developing the youth.

“NFP councillors and districts will discuss the view that says if we get a municipality we should scrap the office of the deputy mayor and the budget allocated to the office will be directed at uplifting the youth.”
