The provincial chairperson of the National Freedom Party (NFP) is expected to testify at the Moerane Commission in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.

The commission is investigating politically- related killings in KwaZulu-Natal. On Thursday an organisation representing hostel resident’s uBunye Bamahostela called on the KwaZulu-Natal political leadership to give Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini an opportunity to intervene in the on-going killings at hostels around Durban.

Chairperson of the organisation Mthembiseni Thusi said he believed the King had the power and influence needed to curb the killings.

Thusi says, “We want politicians to allow the King to be involved in these killings especially at Glebelands . The cleansing ceremony must be performed in all hostels that experienced this violence. The souls of those who died are crying out.”
