NFP leading in eDumbe District in KZN followed by ANC and IFP, vote counting continues

With 7% of the count complete in KwaZulu-Natal(KZN), National Freedom Party (NFP) is in the lead with 34.13% in the Edumbe Municipality, according to the latest data from the Electoral Commission (IEC).

According to the IEC’s results dashboard, 22% of the count is complete there.

The party held their closing rally in Edumbe last week.

It won the majority of seats in this municipality in the 2011 local government election.

Currently, the African National Congress(ANC) is in the second spot with 30.47%, followed by the  Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) with 21.5%.

The party is yet to announce new leadership following the death of its leader Zanele kaMagwaza Msibi in September this year.

DA taking lead in uMgeni

Meanwhile, the DA is leading the vote in the uMgeni Municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

The area has been the key focus of the party’s provincial election campaign.

By 6am, according to the IEC results dashboard, with 4% of the count complete in the uMgeni Municipality, the DA is in the lead with 64.53%, the ANC has 28.16 and the EFF has 3.64%.

Shortly before the election, uMngeni Municipality deputy mayor- Nompumelelo Buthelezi joined the party from the ANC.

Should the DA main its lead in this area, it will be the first DA run municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.
