The annual Newtown Now Festival will be held at the Mary Fitzgerald square in Johannesburg on Saturday. The event will see the launch of new and revamped art installations.

The festival titled ‘Newtown Now’ is a celebration of the unique spirit of Joburg’s Newtown cultural precinct.

It will also see the launch of the Newtown Heads refurbishment project, which were initially installed in 2001 – a collection of hundreds of carved wooden heads sitting atop bollards across the precinct.

Marketing manager at the Johannesburg Development Agency Suzanne Monyai says the festival will celebrate what the city has to offer.
