The newly-elected City of Tshwane Executive Mayor, Murunwa Makwarela, will today share his plans for the capital city.

Makwarela, the former Speaker and sole COPE representative in the city council, was surprisingly elected Mayor on Tuesday.

He got 112 votes compared to DA MP Cilliers Brink’s 101 votes.

The DA took power from the ANC in the capital city in 2016 after the Local Government Elections.

The DA’s Randal Williams resigned as executive Mayor two weeks ago.

Some analysts have warned Makwarela to brace himself for a tough tenure.
