The swearing in of cabinet ministers in Zimbabwe  got underway at the State house on Monday. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed a new cabinet on Friday.

The president has been working hard to try and rebuild the economy.

The new finance minister has promised to address the challenges of the currency.

For the first time, the defence ministry will be headed by a woman. The other surprise is the appointment of a minister of sports.

The foreign affairs minister, who is not new to the position, also has a huge task ahead of him. He has to embark on an economic diplomatic charm offensive.

The 75-year-old Mnangagwa is under pressure to rebuild an economy afflicted by acute US dollar shortages that have hobbled some imports, with unemployment levels above 80%.

The new economic cluster minister will have to work hard to improve the economic situation in Zimbabwe.
