Social Development says the new SA Post Office (SAPO) social grant cards will be ready in six months.

Minister Susan Shabangu says the roll-out of the cards is expected to start from mid-April.

Visiting beneficiaries at a social grant payment pay point in Evaton, Monday, Shabangu says there’s no need to panic during this six months transition period.

The visit comes a month after the Constitutional Court granted Sassa its request to continue with the services of CPS for six months effective from Tuesday.

Shabangu says, “They will continue getting their money timeously and adequately, so where we are right now, from the 16th of April the post office will be rolling out its cards which then we are going to swap with Sassa and the green card, which is the CPS, in making sure that they can utilize one card which is the post office card.”
