A new exhibition highlighting the experiences of political prisoners at the Old Fort Prison situated at Constitutional Hill, has been unveiled.

Visitors will be able to walk down memory lane and hear former prisoners narrate their experiences in the prison.

Steeped in centuries of history and initially built to house white male prisoners during the Anglo Boer war, the Old Fort Prison would later house prominent prisoners such as Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Albert Luthuli and Robert Sobukwe.

Former political prisoner, Joyce Seroke, was detained at the prison for five months and is among those whose stories will be told by the exhibition.
