New disciplinary hearing instituted against De Lille

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille says a new disciplinary hearing has been instituted against her by the Democratic Alliance (DA).

She says the single charge relates to the manner in which posts for area based directors were advertised by the City of Cape Town.

Another disciplinary hearing against her into alleged misconduct was postponed indefinitely last month. The DA is accusing her of covering up acts of maladministration in the council.

De Lille says the latest charge is an internal matter. “They claim that I instructed the executive director in the city of area based what to put in an advertisement. This is a matter that has been looked at in the City already. But it’s a typical showing of no respect for the separation between party and State so they use an internal matter that’s already been investigated by the City to slap new charges on me.”
