New board appointed to head Gautrain

A new board has been appointed to head the Gautrain Management Agency.

Mogopodi Mokoena will lead the team.

The Gauteng Premier’s Spokesperson, Thabo Masebe, says the provincial government has confidence in the board.

“The current board of the Gautrain management agency, their term will expire in December. So the executive council looked at the number of candidates for the board and decided to appoint the new members to serve on the board of the Gautrain management agency. And the board will be chaired by Mr Mogopodi Mokoena for the next three years.”

The Roads and Transport MEC appoints the board in accordance with the Gautrain Management Act.

It consists of a majority of Independent Non-Executive Members.

The CEO is the only Executive Member of the Board, by virtue of his Office.

The roles of the Chairperson of the Board and the CEO are separated.
