The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth has conferred an Honorary Doctorate on medical doctor and one of South Africa’s most successful entrepreneurs, Dr Judy Dlamini.

The Wits University Chancellor expressed gratitude to NMMU, describing it as the only university completely led by women.

The honorary doctorate award follows those of Dr Gcina Mhlophe and Justice Mandisa Maya in April.

A total of 34 doctorate degrees will be awarded at the university’s summer graduation ceremony while 100 students will receive their Master’s degrees.

A group of approximately 17 students will be the first cohort of graduates in the Bachelor of Radiography in Diagnostics degree programme, introduced four years ago. The four-year degree programme replaced the previous three-year diploma programme.
