Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has requested National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise to initiate the recruitment process of a new SABC Board member – if the time is appropriate.
There has been a vacancy on the Board after the resignation of Bernedette Muthien in June.
Ndabeni-Abrahams says the new board member should hold office for the remaining period of Muthien’s term of office which was expected to end in October 2022.
Muthien was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa in April last year. Her resignation was accepted by the Presidency.
