N Cape farmer in court over attempted murder

A 63-year-old farmer from Hartswater in the Northern Cape is on Wednesday expected to appear in court on charges of attempted murder.

He is accused of driving over a protester on his farm last week Friday.

The farmer handed himself over to the police and is expected to defend his actions in court.

It is alleged that the protesters were running away from the police when they came across the farmer.

The farmer then allegedly wanted to know what the protesters were doing at his farm.

It’s alleged that during the brief conversation with the protesters, the farmer also used the K-word before running over one of the them.

The victim, Shimmy Mosienyane is still in hospital. He is expected to undergo surgery and trauma counselling.
