Public Service and Administration Minister Faith Muthambi has called on all South Africans to show love and support to people with mental disabilities during the festive season.

Muthambi has hosted an end-of-year party for patients with mental illness at the eVuxakeni Hospital in Giyani, Limpopo.

She adopted the hospital in 2014.

Muthambi says staff from her ministry contributed to buy food stuff for the patients for the remainder of the festive season.

“We do it every year since 2014. Remember this is a home, we are a caring government and you see when they see their minister, their MEC, mayor, councillor, it’s so exciting to them.”

Some patients from the eVuxakeni Hospital have thanked Muthambi, for her constant visits to the hospital.

One of the patient’s, Michael Mtileni says, “We appreciate the gifts that the Minister has come along with. Our parents should give the support to us and love us and not let them to dump us in the hospital, we appreciate their presence.”
