Murdered farmworker to be laid to rest on Saturday

The Limpopo farmworker, who was shot and killed allegedly by a security guard at Tarlton outside Krugersdorp in Gauteng, will be laid to rest at Ha-Mangilasi village, outside Thohoyandou on Saturday.

The 43-year-old Aaron Mutavhatsidi was accused of stealing a tractor when he was shot and killed last weekend.

Family Spokesperson Lucas Mutavhatsindi says they appreciate the support which they are receiving from communities and government.

“As a family, we are unable to accept the way our member of the family died but we accept the support by the community, together with the government. The funeral will be held at Ha-Mangilasi on Saturday.”

Community members of Mutavhatsidi’s home village, Ha-Mangilasi outside Thohoyandou have expressed their shock about the incident.

“We are sad. He was a breadwinner. We are unable to accept his death .We are hurt about this incident. We were still expecting a lot from him. We are shocked. We never thought such incident could happen to someone we knew.”
