Mthokozisi Thwala’s testimony of two intruders challenged

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Defence lawyer Sipho Ramosepele has disputed Mthokozisi Thwala’s testimony that there were two intruders the night Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed.

Thwala is under cross-examination at the Meyiwa murder trial in the High Court in Pretoria.

Thwala, who was a friend of the late Bafana Bafana soccer star, is the second witness who was present at the Kelly Khumalo home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, when Meyiwa was shot and killed in 2014.

Last week Thwala told the court two intruders had entered the house, one armed with a gun, and the other with a sharp knife-like object.

Thwala also said Longwe Twala was the first to react and push through the intruders, however, Ramosepele says this version is not true.

“Now I’m going to put it to you that this story of Longwe Twala pushing the intruder out and running out of the house is not correct. It’s not the truth.

A: I don’t if you say it’s not the truth then what is it? Response: I’m going to demonstrate it bit by bit and arrive at the conclusion that there were no intruders in the house, Longwe Twala was there as the shot is fired, but we take it step by step.”

Ramosepele represents two of the accused, namely Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi.
