The Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa and the governing ANC have been trending on Twitter. The Minister found himself in hot water after his tweet from few days ago re-emerged.
ANCYL’s 1st President Anton Lembede served his articles at law firm of one of the ANC’s founding fathers Pixley ka Seme’s. In 1946 Anton Lembede became a partner in this law firm with the help of a loan of close to R100,000 (considering inflation), from businessman Isaac Dhlomo. pic.twitter.com/KSdgQIzItA

Mthethwa sent the tweet amid a squabble between musician Kiernan Forbes, known as AKA, and radio and television personality Sizwe Dhlomo.
Forbes had questioned how the Dhlomos had a farm during apartheid. The two smoked the piece pipe this weekend after AKA apologised for insulting struggle stalwart Isaac Dhlomo, who is Sizwe’s grandfather.
Thousands of Twitter users then turned on Mthethwa, accusing the Minister of being too quick to address celebrity Twitter wars but not attending the COVID-19 relief funds that celebrities are waiting for.

Many twitter users are now calling for the Minister’s fall.
In SA we’ve got ministers who are too quick to address celeb Twitter wars than issues they are employed for.#NathiMthethwaMustFall

We’ve seen people lose jobs, evicted, cars repossessed due to the Lockdown. Platforms such as this are used to raise our concerns in unity. Abo Nathi come online and bring politics into beef between a famous farmer & a rapper, then ignore our concerns. #NathiMthethwaMustFall pic.twitter.com/s9jjItJqK7

The social media platform is also on fire with the ANCMustFall hashtag trending. Social media users are calling for ANC Members of Parliament to retire, while others say the governing party has not done anything for them.

How many years have they been in power? What have they done for the youth of this country? Who is representing the youth in the government top position? What is their agenda on youth unemployment? Why do we still have them in power today? The youth needs to take over #ANCMustFall pic.twitter.com/PjQkorTfK2

This comes as South Africans are expressing frustration over the lack of jobs and the widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Applied for a RDP house twice(unsuccessfully).#ANCMustFall#NathiMthethwaMustFall pic.twitter.com/M0A0qEAPEi— ?? Khandacool?? (@UJamaKamnisi) May 24, 2020
President Cyril Ramaphosa has previously admitted that his party has made mistakes in the past, saying it is now ready to build a better South Africa.
