Cabinet has announced that it will seek leave to appeal the judgment of the High Court in Pretoria on lockdown regulations. On Tuesday, the court ruled that Alert Levels 3 and 4 lockdown regulations were unconstitutional and invalid in a case that lobby group AfriForum had brought.

However, the court suspended the judgment for two weeks to allow the cabinet to amend and republish the lockdown regulations.

Minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu, is currently briefing the media “virtually” on the outcomes of the latest Cabinet meeting from Pretoria.
