Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Mthatha Post Office opened its doors early on Wednesday to provide services to social grant beneficiaries.

There have been snaking queues at the Mthatha Post Office as social grant beneficiaries have been struggling to get their money from their normal pay points and banks.

The Mthatha Post office has been forced to extend its business hours in order to deal with the hundreds of social grant beneficiaries who have outstanding payments.

On Tuesday the post office opened from 6am to 6pm. On Wednesday it opened its doors at 7:30, an hour before its normal business time.

Social grant recipients have been queueing outside the Post Office since five o’clock Wednesday on morning.

Most of them are complaining of not getting the full amount of their grant.

They visited their regular pay points on the 1st of this month only to be told to go to the bank but that was also not successful.
