Mpumalanga Tourism industry players are showcasing their establishments and products at the Mpumalanga tourism expo that is underway in Mbombela this weekend.

The annual expo is aimed at promoting domestic tourism and also encouraging the local communities to visit tourist attractions in the province.

The tourism sector has been hit hard by the COVID- 19 pandemic.

The workers and business people in the tourism sector believe that the expo will help revive their businesses.

“We just got to Zero revenue, we were not making money at all because we were not operating. We had to put our services on hold until domestic travel was allowed to travel again,” says one exhibitor.

Another exhibitor says the expo is doing a lot to revive the industry.

“Programmes like this Tourism Expo are doing a lot to bring back the visibility of tourism because I think tourism is out of people’s minds. This brings back the memory of tourism and gives back the drive to want to go out there,” says the exhibitor.
