Mpumalanga to use adjustment Budget for Afcon

The province of Mpumalanga says it will spend three million rand to fund the provincial medical service for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) that is due to take place early next year. This was announced by the MEC of finance in Mpumalanga Pinky Phosa during the tabling of the adjustment Budget. Phosa says conditional grants will go to AFCON and Further Education and Training College(FET). She says they have further established work groups that will support and work closely with the grant managers and also give them necessary support on service delivery. Phosa has tabled the fourth Adjustment Budget. The 2012/13 budget has been adjusted by one billion rand. The office of the premier’s budget has been increased by six million rand to fund international relations programme and to support a presidential event on International Day for People with Disability amongst others. The budget for the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has been increased from 337 million rand to R347 million rand. The adjustment of R3 million for COGTA will be used to fund Waste Management Projects targeting the youth in various municipalities, while more than 6 million rand will be used to support the Institutions of Traditional Leaders. MEC Phosa has also announced that the budget for the Department of Education will be adjusted by 301 million rand, which include roll overs and National Grants.

A roll over amount of R2 million 311 thousand from the previous financial year is made available

“The department of Education has received 199 million rand for the improvement in conditions of service. A further amount of three million is allocated towards additional cost of the 2012 wage agreements for Further Education and Training Colleges. The Department will also benefit from the approved rollovers on conditional grants as follows, National School Nutrition grant to the tune of R32 million 1 thousand; HIV and Aids Life Skills grant amounting to R480 thousand and Dinaledi schools grant totaling R630 thousand.” says Phosa. Meanwhile the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport and the Department of Health have received roll-overs. Public Works, Roads and Transport, the Department receives R16 million 617 thousand as an incentive allocation from the Expanded Public Works Incentive Programme Grant for jobs created in the infrastructure sector. A roll over amount of R2 million 311 thousand from the previous financial year is made available to fund the Integrated Rural Mobility Access (IRMA) projects at Entombe and Boschfontein. The Department of Health receives roll-overs on Schedule 5 conditional grants amounting to R78 million 837 thousand, covering the Forensic Pathology; Comprehensive HIV and AIDS; Health Infrastructure; Health Professions Training and Development and Hospital Revitalisation. R10 million is allocated to the Department to enhance security measures at the three prioritised hospitals, that is, Middelburg, Witbank and Barberton.
