Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane is set to make an announcement regarding Agriculture MEC, Mandla Msibi.
This follows Msibi’s appearance in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder and attempted murder.
He will be back in court on Tuesday to apply for bail.
The charges against Msibi, who handed himself to the police, relate to a deadly African National Congress (ANC) branch meeting where two people were shot and killed and another wounded in Mbombela, in August.
The Premier’s Spokesperson, Sibongile Mkani-Mpolweni says the Premier will make an announcement on Tuesday.
“The Premier today should make an announcement to what is going to happen to the MEC. They were supposed to meet as well with the ANC yesterday, but that meeting occurred very late in the night and it is continuing this morning where a decision will be taken as to what exactly is the next step. So, at this stage, we are not judging. He was arrested before for similar charges and he was acquitted,” says Mkani-Mpolweni.
