Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtsweni- Tsipane has announced a new plan to respond to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, the Mpumalanga Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan (MERRP).
She said this while delivering the state of the province address at the Mpumalanga Legislature.

According to Mtsweni-Tsipane the plan has five main principles aimed at stimulating the economy.
The principles include Economic Reconstruction and Recovery plan, Project based Implementation Approach.
She believes this model will place the province’s economy on a growth trajectory and create jobs. It will be implemented on district delivery model platform.
Farming community
Mtsweni-Tsipane has committed that her government will continue to improve the lives of rural and farming communities.
She said her government will continue to provide training for aspirant farmers. Mtsweni-Tsipane said more than 4000 farmers have already received skills.
About 150 young farmers will be provided with farming land after their training.

Northern Cape
He said more needs to be done to grow the economy of the province.

Limpopo
During his SOPA address, Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha Mathabatha outlined various investment opportunities earmarked for the province with the aim of creating jobs.
He said the stimulation of the local economy will take precedence in this financial year, citing large-scale projects, including the rollout of broadband and developments in the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone.
Mathabatha also focused on the Municipal Infrastructure Budget spending as a key factor in promoting service delivery. He also promised to hold individuals implicated in the Special Investigative Report accountable.
