Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for a gang of about 20 armed suspects after foiling a cash-in-transit robbery following a shoot-out with criminals at the weekend.
Netstar officials called White River flying squad members for back-up after hearing about a stolen vehicle parked in the Masoyi area near Hazyview.
When the joint team approached the vehicle, a shoot-out ensued with the suspects.
One Netstar official and one suspect were wounded in the shooting. The remaining suspects all fled into the bushes.
Police recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, a large quantity of explosives, a bulletproof vest, a firearm and other items believed to be meant for use in a cash-in-transit heist.
