Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) National Chairperson, Advocate Dali Mpofu, says his party’s biggest achievement since its establishment five years ago is putting the issue of land back on the national agenda.
Parliament’s Joint Constitutional Review has been holding public hearings around the country to determine whether Section 25 of the Constitution should be amended to facilitate government’s proposal to expropriate land without compensation.
Mpofu was speaking on the sidelines of the EFF fifth anniversary celebrations at Sisadukashe stadium in Mdantsane in the East London.
“We emphasise the question of land, because you can never change the material conditions of our people without turning around the economic situation… and you cannot turn around the economic situation without returning the land to the people. Land is not just about agriculture, that’s the mistake that most people make. Land is itself an economic asset.”
