Mpe expected to be elected for Polokwane Mayor position on Friday

The former Executive Mayor of the Capricorn District Municipality in Limpopo, John Mpe is expected to be elected as Polokwane Executive Mayor on Friday.

The new mayor will be replacing Thembi Nkadimeng.

Mpe was sworn in on Thursday as a  Polokwane Municipal Councillor ahead of his anticipated election to the mayorship.

 

Nkadimeng was appointed as the Deputy Co-operative Governance Minister last month.

Mpe resigned as the district executive mayor earlier this week.

He has expressed excitement about his new deployment.

“I have been sworn in as a councillor. In life, you cannot expect to be loved and appreciated by everyone. It is normal. We should have those who are critical,” says Mpe.
