Mozambique party strong hold post 2009 elections

In the last elections held in Mozambique, the 2009 Provincial Elections shows that Frelimo is in control of all the provinces in Mozambique with over 60% of the votes in each of them.

In a country with 10 provinces, Mozambique elected Provincial Assembly from the elections.

Proportional representation is used to allocate seats in the Provincial Assemblies, with each district in a province acting as an electoral constituency and each constituency returning a number of members in proportion to its share of the population of the province concerned.

The first provincial Assemblies elections was held on 28 October 2009.

The results were confirmed by the Constitutional Council on 27 December 2009.
