Cinema operator Ster-Kinekor and the V&A Waterfront will be taking holidaymakers and residents in the Mother City back to the days before television when people watched movies every weekend under the stars and in the veld.

From this coming weekend, for the duration of the upcoming festive period, Ster-Kinekor has announced it will be bringing back the nostalgia of the golden era of drive-in theatres, commencing tomorrow.

A massive 12-by-7 metre high-resolution LED screen is being set-up in the parking lot near the iconic Table Bay Hotel and the Victoria Wharf.

The organisers say only a hundred motor vehicles will be accommodated per screening to comply with health and safety protocols. The occupants will be able to tune into the flick’s soundtrack on their car radio for excellent quality.

Patrons can also pre-order sealed snacks, popcorn and colddrinks online.

The first screening this weekend is the brand new Hollywood blockbuster, Jiu-Jitsu, starring Nicolas Cage.
