Family members, politicians and the public have all come together to pay their final respects Mama Zondeni Veronica Sobukwe.

The church service for the funeral of struggle giant Mama Zondeni Veronica Sobukwe is underway at Graaff Reinet in the Eastern Cape.

Family members, politicians and the public have all come together to pay their final respects to the wife of former Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) founding president, Robert Sobukwe.

Mama Zondeni passed away last week at the age of 91.

Family representative Sizwe Mfaxa has described her as a simple and loving woman who had a passion for people.

Mfaxa says Mama Sobukwe had an exceptional memory and always had a vested interest in South Africa’s political landscape.
