Mourners have hailed rugby legend Chester Williams as a hero, a gentleman and a unifier.

An official funeral service was held for him at Newlands rugby stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.

The former Springbok wing died last week at the age of 49 from a suspected heart attack.

Flags flew at half-mast from sunrise to sunset in honour of the legendary player and rugby coach.

The rugby fraternity, family and friends paid homage to the late star.
