Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung Snr, has expressed his disappointment over the club failure to win trophies for the past two seasons.

In his New Year’s Eve message, Motaung says, “We have now gone 2.5 years without winning a trophy and that’s disappointing. But we won’t throw in the towel. There are no shortcuts and the margins between the different teams are small, but there is still a lot to play for the Absa Premiership and the Nedbank Cup.”

Amakhosi last won trophies in 2015 under Stuart Baxter. Since the arrival of Steve Khompela the club has not won even a single cup.

Khompela only managed to send Chiefs to the MTN 8 Final and Telkom Knockout in 2015 but the club succumbed to Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town.

The club is in their third season without winning a trophy.

However, Motaung is pleased to see youngsters recruited to the first team.

“It was great to see that a few youngsters have come through from our development structures, including Siyabonga Ngezana, Wiseman Meyiwa, Khotso Malope, Bruce Bvuma and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo,” says Motaung.
