Motion of no confidence in Trollip hangs in the balance

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s not clear whether the highly-anticipated motion of no confidence in Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip of the Democratic Alliance will take place Thursday as scheduled.

This after Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie said on Wednesday night that his party would not vote against Trollip during the motion of no confidence.

The Patriotic Alliance, African National Congress, African Independent Congress and United Front are unwilling to support the candidates that the Economic Freedom Front and United Democratic Movement had put forward for the positions of mayor and deputy mayor.

These parties would all have to support the motion of no confidence in Trollip for it to be passed.
