National Treasury official says payments of more than R12 million were made to Infinity Media while more than R248 million was paid to The New Age.

National Treasury official Jan Gilliland has told the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture that total payments made to Gupta-owned companies Infinity Media and The New Age newspaper, amounted to more than R260 million.

Gilliland is currently testifying to the inquiry in Parktown, Johannesburg.

He’s giving evidence on money spent by the government communications service, Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) to Gupta-owned media companies.

Gilliland says payments of more than R12 million were made to Infinity Media while more than R248 million was paid to The New Age.
