More than 8 million people are now fully vaccinated in South Africa, having received either their second dose of the two-shot Pfizer vaccine or the single-dose Johnson and Johnson shot.
The Health Department’s vaccination data has revealed that 178 685 people have been given a vaccine in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
This is around 10% more than Monday’s data.
At least 11.5 million people in SA have received at least one COVID-19 vaccination, which is 29% of the adult population of SA.

Meanwhile, 2 197 new COVID-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 886 331.
A further 160 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 86 376 to date.
