The restaurant and outside deck area at the Monkey Town resort in Somerset West have been destroyed by a fire.
City of Cape Town Fire Spokesperson, Edward Bosch says none of the animals were harmed in the incident.
He says the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
“Last night just before 11pm, the City’s Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire at the Monkey Town resort in Somerset West. Upon arrival, the service found the main restaurant building well alight. Three fire engines, two water tankers and a rescue vehicle with 21 fire fighters responded to the incident. Fortunately, none of the animals were injured,” says Bosch.
