Parliament says National Assembly Speaker, Thandi Modise has not had time yet to consider the letter from the Helen Suzman Foundation calling for the removal of Busisiwe Mkhwebane as Public Protector.

The foundation says the courts have now repeatedly confirmed that Mkwebane has continuously undermined and irreparably harmed the institution of the public protector. The call follows this week’s Constitutional Court judgement against Mkwebane on her report on the Reserve Bank, Absa, Bankcorp lifeboat matter and the legal challenges she faces over her findings against President Cyril Ramaphosa and Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan.

Modise’s spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says once she has studied and considered the matter, she will respond to the organisation.
