Legendary Motsweding FM presenter, voice over artists and technical producer, Modiko Mothupi, has been laid to rest.

Mothupi died on Monday after a long illness. He will be remembered for his humble nature, his love for his family and his sense of humour.

A legendary broadcaster who was passionate about his Setswana language and poetry.

His family attests that he was meant to be behind the microphone. Cousin Mogakga Mothupi says:”He had that talent from the beginning. He had that aspiration of becoming a radio broadcaster, it was natural, it was within him.”

His middle name, Christian, was much like a metaphor to how he lived his life.

Lerato Kuntwane says:”He was an honest person. He loved his family. Above all he loved God and of all those things, this gives me strength that if you believe in God, if you can love your family, if you can be humble, if you can be honest and those are the things that will bring peace and happiness in your life.”

His death has left an enormous void in the broadcasting fraternity.

Colleague Dimpho Gopane says:”He was very passionate about his work. He used to assist us, especially the young upcoming presenters and producers. Even when he’s not on the shift, he would come around and assist us all the time.”

The multiple South African Traditional Music Awards nominees are revered for his contribution to traditional music and broadcasting in Setswana.
