Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pledged to significantly improve the living standards of Zimbabweans. Mnangagwa took office in November last year, promising change and progressive steps towards a more democratic future.

He has been addressing people at the National Sports Stadium in Harare where thousands of ZANU-PF members have gathered for the party’s final rally ahead of Monday’s election.

Mnangagwa has thanked Zimbabweans for a great turnout. “I’m humbled by this great attendance; we are in a new Zimbabwe, a new era. We have come this far, we are boldly marching on in this journey to build a wonderful Zimbabwe, we are resolute in our desire to build a much more prosperous Zimbabwe, with equality of life for the majority of our people, step by step.”

There is a large media contingent at the National Sports Stadium.  Meanwhile at the Freedom Square, also in Harare, the MDC Alliance is also holding its final rally led by the Party’s President, Nelson Chamisa.
