World leaders gathered at the United Nations headquarters in New York to endorse 17 new goals including ending poverty and hunger and quality education for all by 2030 on Friday.
Achieving Gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls is Goal 5.
US Correspondent Sherwin Bryce-Pease caught up with the Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka to talk about this goal’s significance in the world’s new development agenda.
