African National Congress (ANC) Treasurer General Zweli Mkhize, who is one of the party presidential hopefuls, did not participate in his branch general meeting, held at Willowfontein in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.
On arrival at a meeting venue Mkhize found that his name and that of his wife were not on the list of party members.
The branch meeting was to nominate the branch’s preferred candidate and also to elect delegates who will attend the ANC national conference next month.
Mkhize’s branch then nominated Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as its preferred party presidential candidate.
