Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida has handed over shoes, blankets, sanitisers and other items to the Khayalethu Youth Centre in Gqeberha in the Nelson Mandela Metro.

The centre was started in 1996 and caters for 35 boys between the ages of five and 21.

Boys living on the streets are given another chance to reach their full potential.

Musida says this is a cause dear to her heart. “I think it sets a good example for our society in general. I mean Khayalethu cultivates young men and teaches them respect and kindness and just to be responsible. I think it’s not just important to do this here but, all over the country. And for me personally, I would love to live a life of service. So to see people be of service to society, to see people be of service to their community is such an amazing inspiration to me.”

The boys of Khayalethu were excited to receive their donations.

“I am very happy and thankful that we are getting school clothes and school shirts. Back to back. It will make a difference because these are the things we didn’t have that the boardwalk donated. We needed it because it’s the beginning of the year.”
